Most of these products are still being developed and are undergoing clinical evaluation to determine the effectiveness of their manufacturer's claims.

RECALDENT
Recaldent (casein phosphopeptide-amorphous calcium phosphate) or CPP-ACP is a new product which shows promise in remineralizing enamel. This product has been shown to improve white spot lesions that often result during orthodontic treatment. A program of supervised use of CPP-ACP during orthodontics can reduce the incidence of white spot lesions. Existing white spot lesions can be lightened. Not for use in patients with milk protein or benzoate allergies.
Very promising, but remember, in the meantime BRUSH! BRUSH! BRUSH!
Self-Ligating Braces
A new generation of brace has been developing which promises to move teeth quickly and more comfortably than traditional braces. These braces may allow us to complete treatment 4-6 months sooner and reduce the need for tooth extraction in certain cases. The interval between visits can be extended to 6-8 weeks, so less visits are required, adding to your convienence.
An additional advantage to Self-Ligating braces is the Clear braces look better. Traditional Clear braces are less noticeable but often discolor between appointments. Self-Ligating braces do not discolor between visits, so they maintain their nice look throughout treatment! It is estimated that currently 20% of orthodontists have used these braces. Early results are very promising in certain cases.
